Long before Europeans came to the Americas, various tribes inhabited the land. Native Americans (or Indians) assisted the settlers in training them how to till the land for their uses and where and what to gather for food. Several tribes like the Cherokee, had their own written language and eventually created newspapers with the advancements that the Europeans brought over such as the printing press.

Several proud Native American costumes can be worn for school plays or costume parties. Dress as an indian Brave with a fringed costume and some moccasins and a long wig or Mohawk wig. Native American chiefs may be crowned with long, flowing feathered headdresses with rows of impressive feathers to signify your stature within your tribe. Ladies can dress as a beautiful Native American princess with a long black wig and several head-turning costumes that would make even Pocahontas envy you!
For something out of the ordinary, dress as the Native American indian of the village people and round out a squad with a Construction Worker, Biker, sailor, and Policeman!
